For those who’ve been rocking with Sevyn Streeter since Rich Girls like us, the wait is finally over as she releases her debut album Girl Disrupted.
In this 13-track project, Sevyn tackles all of the experiences she went through from the ups to the downs that continues to make her grow as an individual and artist.
The singer/songwriter made sure a few her experiences had different perspecives as when taps a few of her fellow artists with contributions from The-Dream, Wiz Khalifa, Ty Dolla $ign, Jeremih, Dej Loaf, August Alsina, Dave East, and Cam Wallace.
If you follow the R&B songstress via her social media accounts or recently seen her on BET’s A Very Soul Train special with Luke James, you know her love for 90’s R&B.
Throughout this album, you’ll hear samples, references, influences, and renditions of some classic 90’s hits like Whitney Houston’s “Saving All My Loving For You” and Faith Evans “Soon As I Get Home”.
In the premiere release via Billboard Streeter explains:
“All these artists at the top of the pop charts are dressed like R&B artists in their videos. They’re singing lyrics and melodies from R&B songs of the past. We’re a very influential genre, and I’m not mad at it. I just want people to accept it no matter who it comes from. I can’t say that that’s always the case. And a lot of the times, I can’t say that’s ever the case, if we want to keep it 100!”
Some of you might’ve heard of few of these tracks if you attended her Girl Disrupted Tour from earlier this year all leading up to her big day.
