What a surprise way to kick off Essence Festival 2017 and 4th of July weekend, as rising group June’s Diary release new mixtape Male Edition full of 90’s R&B covers.
In this 7-track mixtape, JD tackles some classic 90’s R&B hits as they use their range of vocals to show off their diverse talents when they tackle tracks from Jodeci (“Stay”), BBD (“Poison”), Jagged Edge (“Where The Party At”), Babyface (“Two Occasions”), and even takes a shot at The Beetles (“Hey Jude”).
It’s been a year since the quintet was chosen by Kelly Rowland and Frank Gatson on BET’s Chasing Destiny and they continue to show their growth together when they performed last night at this year’s Essence Festival. In the premiere of the project, they also went on to give us a little preview of what to expect (video below).
